Here is the plan for the service:
Bob is speaking on conflict in the church. From our discussion last night (only he and I were there) it sounds very interesting and thought provoking.
ORDER?
SONGS? ORDER OF?
SPEAKING PARTS?
CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT?
BULLETIN?

what conflict? within lockerbie or "the church."
sounds cool.
are going with the everything must change theme???
it would be cool to do the bob dylan song each sunday.
also next sunday it would be cool to look at 9/11--everything must change in terms of the way we look at terrorism.... sort of take our earlier discussion about 9/11...
not sure about the bob dylan song every sunday. Maybe a different change song each sunday. Like Blind Melon's Change, great song, maybe Jordan and I could play it, I called the guitar solos though!
I have an interesting reading I could read about poverty's role in the events of 9/11, very interesting.
you're right though, we need to announce the theme and talk about it. frame it. tell how long we'll be on that theme, why, etc.
call to worship
Come, Holy Spirit, We Are Ready . . .
One: Let us enter in the courts of your sanctuary. Let us release to you the fears
and dangers that entrap our identity
Many: Come, Holy Spirit.
One: We release to you the tears that streak our faces from the disappointments
and pains of a broken society.
Many: Come, Holy Spirit.
One: We open our hearts to release the resounding impact of hatred and envy.
Many: Come, Holy Spirit.
One: We are ready to receive your word and respectfully respond to the glory of
your goodness.
Many: Come, Holy Spirit.
One: We will embrace your joy!
Many: Come Holy Spirit.
All: Thank you Holy Spirit, we are in awe of your presence.

I am using the everything must change theme with the Matthew passage. Changing how we view and do conflict in the church and community.
Who is doing music and to whom should I send what?
The call to worship looks great.
What else do we need?
Are we having a 9-11 service or should I weave that into this Sunday?
It will fit.
I'd like to at least reach out to Scott to see if he wanted to play anything this sunday, but I would still offer to play some guitar, hopefully with Jordan.
i would like like to do a 9-11 service but i doubt that we can get it organized....lets make next sunday's service about 9-11 and how everything must change in how we think about terrorism and "fight" terrorism.
and we can tie it into ghandi and allende's chile 9-11.
there is also a great scene in teh movie charlie wilson's war where phillip seymour hoffman is talking to tom hanks about how to fight terrorism (build schools and infrastructure) that could work out quite nicely.
in terms of this sunday, do you want do the blind melon change song?
I'm busy teaching at UIndy tonight and all day tomorrow. The sermon is ready. What else do I need to provide?
I can do communion in an oral tradition (without printed litany).
Including 9-11 in this Sunday's theme is no problem at all. I can move from conflict within the church to conflict in the neighborhood to conflict in the world. I really think you'll appreciate this biblical perspective.
You guys have really got it going! I can do a reading or anything else you need. Anytime you need piano music, if Scott's not available, I can do that too. I know we've sorta stepped away from the piano accompanied style of music, but it does seem to come up occasionally.
I read chord charts just fine too and have a KORG N264 at home, if you need back-up organ chords, or other funky sounds. I don't have an amp or external speakers, so it will have to hook into something there.
